Renewable Energies

Saying that the renewable energy industry represents the future is to miss the truth — renewables are the present. A present in which the global circumstances we are facing, such as the increase in energy costs or emission reduction targets, among others, foster a time of change, investment, adaptation, and, of course, business and opportunity.

Offshore wind energy, project engineering, and the development of hybrid systems are being propelled by this tailwind as pillars that bring flexibility to energy demand. Behind all of it stand the companies, engineering firms, researchers, and professionals.

Spain is a country with first-class industrial and technical capabilities. Both its companies and its society are ready, supported by an evolving regulatory framework that accompanies this momentum. To close this circle, the Chamber of Commerce of Avilés, together with the City Council of Avilés and the Asturias Foreign Promotion Agency (ASTUREX), present the sixth edition of NORTE RENOVABLES — an event at the service of companies, both for their promotion and for the development of their business.

An event that seeks to become the benchmark for a region that leads in manufacturing and technological development within the renewable energy sector.

Renewables and the Business Sector

Spain’s productive sector, driven by its desire for diversification and supported by its excellent knowledge and quality, has successfully integrated into this industry both in terms of energy generation as well as construction, design, and research. However, much of this participation in the renewable sector has taken place in foreign markets, where we enjoy a strong reputation for accomplishing targets and goals.

Our companies are ready, society is ready, and governmental actions are paving the way forward. For all these reasons, NORTE RENOVABLES emerges at a time of development, implementation, and consolidation of renewable energies.

Why Avilés?

Avilés, is energyIt is the metropolitan area with the highest industrial density in Spain and one of the areas with the highest concentration of multinational companies in Europe. It boasts a significant electro-intensive industrial sector, which is in constant debate about electricity rates due to their impact on competitiveness and the uncertainty this creates for new investments.

Avilés, is innovation. The city is working on its consolidation as an innovative territory through the development of the Avilés Island of Innovation Science and Technology Park, where the Steel Hub is located. Around this knowledge hub, key institutions such as the ITMA Steel Technology Centre, ArcelorMittal’s R&D Centre, and the Avilés Innovation Island Centre provide the industrial foundation for renowned companies that, through technological development, have diversified their activities into the renewable energy sector.

Avilés is strategic, Located in the centre of the Cantabrian Coast, it is within a short range of the major cities in northwest Spain. Just 10 minutes from Asturias Airport, with connections to the rest of Spain, and near the Port of Avilés, one of the most active industrial ports in northern Spain, Avilés enjoys a privileged geographical location that keeps it close to the world.

Avilés, is millenary,It has an historic centre filled with palaces, gardens, fountains, churches, and arcaded houses, giving it a unique atmosphere dating from medieval times. Declared a Historic-Artistic Site by the Spanish government, the city is open to its estuary and offers top-level gastronomy and vibrant leisure areas. Museums and relaxing spots, along with nearby attractions such as the Asturias Maritime Museum, the Arnao Mine, or the Niemeyer Centre, make Avilés a privileged place for MICE tourism.
